am safe from web viruses when i'm surfing on the internet?

Does Avast Home Edition 4.8 Free protect my PC directly from web viruses, malware, spyware when i’m surfing on the internet?

Yes, It has got web shield and network shield

Hi…

While what Chris has stated is true, it never hurts to have a little extra help if you have the system resources to spare (with the exception of SpywareBlaster as it uses no additional resources.) Here are a few (among many) to choose from:

  1. Windows Defender
  2. SpywareBlaster
  3. Immunet Protect
  4. Malwarebytes

May God bless you

No AV can protect you 100% from malicious websites, no where near. This program will 99.9%. However,if used at the default settings, it could still allow info from the pc being transmitted, before the box is emptied. If configured properly, this cannot happen http://www.sandboxie.com/

Whilst the web shield will greatly reduce the risk, running a browser like firefox with NoScript and RequestPolicy, will further reduce the risk to very, very low levels.

Personally I have never been a fan of sandboxing, but I do use DropMyRights (with win XP OS) for all programs that have an internet facing element, browsers, email programs, etc. That effectively runs the application with limited rights, this can greatly reduce the damage that can be done should malware get past your defences from the internet.

How come ?

Sandboxie also has its own drop my rights
