Well Intel screwed up Pentium 4 series and yet they were still selling just because they were from Intel (even though they totally sucked and were (over)heating like nuts). AMD doesn’t have that luxury and they’ve also made acquisition of ATI tech recently. All this also caused problems with manufacturing of their quads and also because there were some bugs in the chips which are now fixed if we can belive the words in this interview.
I read in an article on MSN (cant find the link now will update the post if I do) that AMD’s stock took a big hit today as Dell stopped selling most AMD powered systems on its website (Which I checked out dell.com and yep almost all are now Intel based)
I really hope AMD finds a way to get back on track. Intel really has the best processors on the market right now but if AMD goes under there will be no one to keep pushing them (PowerPC platform has not been a real threat to intel for quite some time now)
