as far as I know it doesn’t scan, just the notifications are broken 
It was somehow fixed in an update, but it seems to not fix it for everyone. If you want, you can try a new beta of the new AMS, should be without this issue https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.avast.android.mobilesecurity
