"An Error Occured During the Updating: Network Unreachable" Not Resolved

You must have admin rights at the moment - not just the possibility to do administration. There are 2 ways how to do it:

  1. from Terminal:
    sudo rm -fr /Library/Application\ Support/Avast/files/Setup/filedir/*.locked

  2. from Finder:
press apple+lshift+g , enter the path “/Library/Application Support/Avast/files/Setup/filedir” , and delete those files (Finder will ask you for administrative password).

I got 4 files… progmac.raw / progmac.lat / vpsmac.raw / vpsmac.lat
I deleted the .lat files, rebooted, tried to update… same as ever… fail :frowning:

I had this exact problem on a new MacBook in October 2013.

I uninstalled Avast, downloaded a new DMG, and installed it. Everything was fine after that.

The version I was using was freshly downloaded at the beginning of October, but it would not update the virus protections.

The other options suggested here in this thread DID NOT WORK for me.

Hi,
if you launch the Avast application what are yours Application version and Virus definitions version.
