I checked Windows Task Manager and found out many instances of Avast Secure Browser, although I’m not using this browser. It happens only on one of my machines, all with Windows 10. On this laptop I’m using mostly Firefox.
Why is this happening?
How to stop this from happening?
Reboot.
I did the reboot already
Didn’t change
Strange…
- Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version…?
- OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
- Other security related software installed…?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?
Avast free antivirus version 18.3.2333
Windows 10, 64 bit
I didn’t have any AV before Avast as I’m usually very happy with it
Repair Avast:
- Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
- Click on ‘Repair’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
Thank you Asyn but it didn’t help.
It puzzles me a lot as out of 4 PCs, it only happens on this one, although all have the same configuration - latest version of Avast on Windows 10.
See attached jpeg
Might be a bug, if you don’t want/need ASB: https://support.avast.com/article/Uninstall-Secure-Browser
I thought of uninstalling, but being a tester by profession, I prefer reporting a bug and get a fix.
I just didn’t find where to report bugs. There is an option within the AV program, but it doesn’t allow attachments, identification, or any details that will allow me a follow up or response
Great, if you want to help follow instructions: https://support.avast.com/article/33/
Post the file-ID here, so I/we can forward it to the devs. Cheers
Thanks Asyn
The file ID is FRSGU
I forwarded it. Cheers
Thank you
You’re welcome.
