Yesterday whilst on my desktop XP SP 3 , I found the applications were opening very slowly and generally even window functions like search etc seemed crawling. I disabled Avast for 10 minutes and they seemed normal. Seeing such behavior for the first time. I took two snapshots of the signature updates.
Now the updates have moved to 130131 and it is OK now.
If this was something concerning the technical people could look into it.
No issues here on my XP Pro SP3 system.
But I don’t know why your avast was out of date yesterday the latest virus definitions would have been 130131-0 or 130131-1 and not what is shown on your second image 130128-0 3 days old.
So I don’t know how that might have effected your updates.

I did mention that the recent update is 130131 and the system seems normal now. I posted the snapshots of when Avast was slowing things perhaps…
Yes, I know you did, but at the time of your snapshots the virus definitions is showing as 3 days out of date. My concern was why and if you had attempted an update during that period why it didn’t show and if that may have been the issue.
