And now what to do about this - tracking without cookies?

Hi malware fighters,

There are other devious things that web servers can do other than putting tracking cookies on your hard disk: intra-session and inter-session tracking. Read about these forms here: http://arctic.org/~dean/tracking-without-cookies.html
What did you do to protect against these methods, or weren’t you even aware it went on. If the makers of your TV programs did these things on the box, you would be outraged, but on the Internet we accept this.
Well again what comes to mind is: clear the browser cache fully on closing down the browser, switch user agent or don’t give away referal info and do not run script. The other way is obfuscate the browser search results with Track Me Not or deny HiddenViewState. A good intro to ViewState explaining it’s implications can be found here: http://weblogs.asp.net/infinitiesloop/archive/2006/08/03/Truly-Understanding-Viewstate.aspx
