Hi there all, i have the gold package for avast one, i have had it for 3 years+ and only now just getting this warning?? i have done multiple scans on both PC and Android and it only shows on my Android, there is no vulnerabilities or any other issues during my scans, only that 1 issue being a potential MiTM attack but even after getting in contact with my providers for my wifi they say everything is in the clear, should i clear this as a false positive? as i am still waiting to hear from the threat labs after sending in a potential false positive report… just need this answering as i’ve not had any issues and i’ve not done anything to get this potential warning.
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
You won’t get a direct response from the virus labs team. It will be analysed in 48 hours and if found to be a false positive detection, it will be removed.
If you are getting an Avast Alert, if it is possible to do a local screen capture and save it to a local drive. Using a file management program drag and drop it into your next reply.
If you are able to record the potential MiTM attack and it has a an associated URL, then it is possible to check out the URL.
You may find this google search AI Overview helpful.
potential MiTM Attack
There are sites that can also check a site link.
Hi there David, thats nice to know about the team haha i’ve been waiting expecting something
but least not i know but nothing has been removed, i still have an alert saying device may be vulnerable due to my wifi but there is nothing in terms of an associated URL, there’s no event log or error logs, nothing to tell me if there is an attacker at all, just on my Android avast one app when it does the scan then finishes out of the 4 areas it shows, its only on one of the tabs that being the 2nd one showing that my wifi is a potential risk but i’ve cleared it up with my providers and shows there’s nothing, i’ve even gone into my router to check logs and there’s nothing or even setting changes like the early signs say there would be, i’ve tried everything tbh at this point, apart from maybe doing lineshark or even getting someone trusted to get their phone with Avast one onto my wifi to do a test, cause as i say nothing else is showing warnings and as per another person said in this community the android app is known for showing false warnings.. is there any other way to try get logs up on my phone through avast one? that gives me a detailed log? and also to the signs from that AI overview, i’ve noticed none of these happen on my devices, not even at the start of the warning, i had clicked on an AD through Instagram which was a verified account by accident but unsure if this could cause an issue?
A picture is worth a thousand words.
I use the Avast Antivirus Free product and not the Avast One product
Personally I I never run on-demand scans or an on-access scanner, it would in effect be scanning dormant files, active files should be scanned. However your mention of the WiFi vulnerability had me do a search as it isn’t something that I’m familiar with, see below.

Again a screenshot would be helpful, but may be difficult capturing it on mobile, saving it on an external drive and be able to drag and drop it into the topic.
I tried to add screeshots, got to embed them apparently as im a new user to the community forum
but its scanning what basic scans always scan from my knowledge but yeah Its just something strange in my opinion, I used avast for free for years and when I finally got into a job full time I upgraded to this avast one but apparently from other users over the time I’ve used it have ran into issues, it just sucks that theres no log to follow to tell you whats what and even after looking into it (For example telling my provider the ins and outs, they find nothing out the normal and its all safe and secure and even looking into my router, nothing has changed, no subtle hints or anything that tells me theres an attacker…) Sorry I’m bad at times and this is the first warning in years to be fair, and everything i look up tells me its false positives, just it sticking around is what worries me due to past events leading to police knocking at my door for something that wasn’t even me.

- Drag & Drop - Create a screenshot on your computer and save it locally. Using windows explorer or other file management program, drag and drop into your post. Even as a new user this should work, you are prevented from loading external links to your off-line image.
Unfortunately I don’t use Avast One and the UI and components are different to Avast Antivirus Free (which I have been using for over 21 years), it fits my requirements.
the first screenshot i have, as you can see its only showing that one issue, theres no other issues anywhere else even on deep scans via my pc and full network scans, of all devices, it just doesnt seem to let up and even my wifi provider says there’s nothing wrong or on the router so i’m unsure and heres the resolve side
What does Resolve do ?
I suspect offer you a deal on the Avast VPN product.
On-demand scan I feel are somewhat of a waste of time as essentially they would be scanning dormant files, if active the live scan should pick up on it. The Avast Smart Scan also looks for weaknesses and vulnerabilities and hope you would pick up on a paid option.
All I can suggest going over the information in the link I gave on Potential MiTM Attack and see if there is anything in your phones settings you can do to prevent this.
All resolve does is wants to turn on my VPN i have the gold version of Avast one so i have all the options open to me, no promotions or anything but i would hope so too that the paid version would pick stuff up but everything shows in the clear, i’ve do smart scans + deep scans daily to make sure nothing is wrong on both my PC and Phone and what it shows in the screenshot is all i get on my Phone via the scans after it asks me if i wanna scan my network, but i did follow your link and i still can’t find anything so at this point i may switch from Avast paid as all its doing is feeding my stress and anxiety specially after i have a friend whos’s an IT tech and even he says nothing should be wrong and that Avast just likes to overprotect or give False positives - almost on par with AVG haha so i may just cancel my subscription and go over to what he uses but i really do appreciate the help David thank you, you’ve added to my source of knowledge and that really this stuff doesn’t seem correct in terms of a real attack.
i do think its also overproctecting me too as whenever i go on my PC it seems to wanna rescan my wifi as a new connection even though its the same router/IP nothing changed from what i can see? if this helps in deciding who knows ![]()
You’re welcome, I’m sorry it wasn’t more productive.
