Android GMail - detected a Trojan; Android:FakeInst-EY

My Android Gmail app is detected as Android:FakeInst-EY

Maybe there is an infection, but this is a standard app. Detection occured after upgrading my Galaxy Note to Jelly Bean.

I think this is a false positive

Avast has detected gmail, drag racing, samba mobile and Firefox as viruses where the obviously not!

Yep Same here

Woke up to GMail suddenly being a trojan, also WhatsApp.

Something obviously gone wrong after recent update!

No doubt about that! Gave me a real shock when I was told I have 5 viruses!

Same problem here on Samsung Galaxy SIII with:

  • Bankieren (bank-program)
  • Search and find (phonenumbers)
  • Gmail
  • Linkedin
  • Prey
  • Chaton (it comes with the phone)
  • DSAudio
  • DSFile
  • DSFinder
  • DSCloud
  • DSPhoto+
  • Viber
  • Whatsapp
  • NOS
  • Reisplanner (Train planner)

I hope there’s something wrong with the last update of Avast. My wife has the exact same problem on a Samsung Galaxy SII.

Reinstall of Avast fixed it for me…

Just reinstall? Surly there could of been a warning!
