Android tablet issue

android tablet has issue and avast ultimate security does not fix

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

It is difficult to impossible to suggest anything given there are no details of the problem.

What issues ?

Hi DavidR
Sorry, first time on this site so not sure what detail to start with.
My Wife ordered a book via Amazon and part way through the process something happened and this caused a problem.
My Wife is currently recovering from Cancer and has brain fog so she cannot remember what she did.
We have spoken to Amazon and the seller and both say that nothing unterward has happened from their end and suggested that she had pressed some link by mistake.
Since then on her Android Samsung Tab A SM-T510 S/W level T510XXUSCWAi/T5100XM95CVG2 dated 1 Dec 2022 update, whenever it goes to sleep, and woken up, it displays a part QR code and asks for a password to close it. If you do not continue to type, it goes to sleep very quickly and does this again. Tablet also stared to play games which my Wife (76 years old) has never installed and never would do. Cannot even find those games… I have Avast Ultimate VIP Multi paid version and this was installed before this happened. Running a series of scans shows no problems found. Hope you can assist before we are forced to do a full reset and lose everything.
Thanks and Regards
Dave

Before doing any reset it would be wise to backup/export your Avast program settings.

It might be worth trying a search in the Avast Mobile Security for Android sub-forum.

I can only assume that you set a password and for some reason it is asking for it.

This is a search I ran using the magnifying glass top right of your screen

If you did it is going to need a clean uninstall and reinstall and I have never encountered that, so I have no personal experience of it.

Hi, I think you have the wrong impression. It’s nothing to do with Avast passwords. The password it asks for is the main android lock pasword.

I’ve just gone into safe mode and noticed a file which is small and encrypted. I suspect that this is the problem file, it was created at about the same time as the problem started.. When I delete it, it goes into the recycle bin as expected. I re-boot and it comes back into My Files. Ams_vault/ .data/.keystore

I’ve set the recycle bin toggle to keep recycled data files for 30 days to OFF. After re-boot, it still goes back to original location with date chnged to current date. Will it eventually go?

Getting rather frustrated her.

I’m not entirely sure if this is an area that Avast Antivirus for Android (Premium or otherwise) can actually do as an Antivirus program.

See if this search on “Ams_vault/ .data/.keystore” helps
Ams_vault/ .data/.keystore

Other than that I’m out of ideas.

Hi, it looks as though it is some sort of encryption store but no idea how to get rid of it. I’ll try to be patient and wait to see if it disappears after a few days, if not it has to be a reset. Backup probably won’t help as the file will still be there.

Thanks anyway.

You’re welcome, sorry it wasn’t more productive.
