Since last week some time My animated gifs or any animations in forums/ or on websites are now not working. How do I fix this. this issue happed right after an avast update.
Do you mean you can’t see an animated Brazilian flag in my signature?
Can you see my picture (avatar)?
Did you change any browser setting? Specially, scripts and ActiveX?
I can see your avitar and I can see your flag. Flag is not animated though ???
Havent changed any settings.
Is my avitar anaimated? On my computer it is not but it is supposed to be.
Your avatar is animated for me :-
I’m almost sure you get some wrong configuration.
Anyway, sorry, I don’t know too much about animated gif
Im sure aswell… But it only started after my avast! upgrade last week >:(
Ohhhhh I also use mozilla and it is messed up using mozilla aswell as IE
Are you calling avast of “it”? 8)
If you search the board for animated gif won’t you find anything related?
It meaning my Gif’s and avitars hehehehe did a search on the board and didn’t come up with anything
Ok I fixed it… Good thing for system restore ;D
Looks to me that is was a bad file in one of the folders used for the internet cache or in the download folder. Removing every file from them would likely also have solved the issue.
I did… still didn’t work… I tried just about everything I could think of and nothing worked. Wellll SYS RESTORE worked

Does that mean that Avast! is now not up to date?
Yep sure does…Ill update it this weekend when I have time to deal with anymore issues that might happen.
Well, much more important is to have your antivirus up-to-date than to be able to see some animated gifs anyway… waiting few days to update antivirus program, even if new update is already out, is not the cleverest thing to do…
Second of all, I’m hundred percent sure, that has nothing to do with avast!. On my wife’s computer, I’m testing another antivirus product, never had avast! installed on that system, and having same problem, but only when I use Mozilla. Sometimes, animated gifs just look frozen. IE never gave me any troubles with animated gifs…
Cheers !
P.S. You better update your avast! virus definitions… best advice.
Well I also did notice a slow down in system speed aswell. It wasn’t just the gif’s… after the sys restore everything is good.
backslide420,
What was mentioned before about using Mozilla and the gifs not moving is true. I use it and also when I use Opera sometimes the animated gifs don’t move. Could be mainly just a difference of browsers.
OK, then best thing is to wait for Alwil guys response… but again, I’m pretty sure avast! (or latest update) has nothing to do with not showing animated gifs, 'cause otherwise, we all would experience same problems…
P.S. No slowing down here after latest virus definitions update. With SP2 installed, everything works even better than ever…
Cheers !
