Annoying beeping (musical "email received" jingle) when using Secureline

Offered a free trial on my mobile and am trying it. It seems to work OK in as much that the ip address changes, however, a couple of things have cropped up:

  1. I have an android galaxy SII and it now appears that secureline is not yet available specifically for android. Is this true and, if so, why offer me a trial??!!

  2. More of a problem is that the phone beeps annoyingly every 20 seconds or so - I presume that this happens each time the phone drops the line and reconnects? Can anyone confirm this please? It is too much of a pest to leave on and I have to turn off secureline unless i specifically want to connect in an unsecure location - even then it beeps away like there is no tomorrow. I know it is the app, because the beeping stops as soon as I take secureline down.

EDIT - still no idea why this happens. When it beeps I check the key but it still indicates that a secure connection is up…

I am not understand at all; which version of android OS do you use? Which version of SecureLine you have installed? Is it beta or release from Play? Is your device rooted with some other ROM than factory? What is exactly happening when the secureline is on and off?

Jan thanks for replying. here is the info you asked for:

Phone: Galaxy SII model GT-19100

Android: 4.0.3 supplied by Orange with phone. Not rooted. No changes made to phone since new. I am also running Avast mobile security with backup, virus scanner, anti-theft etc.

Secureline downloaded 5 days ago direct from wherever Avast provides it - by clicking on download when I received the 7 day trial offer.

For your info: ip address when connected to secure line at the moment is 77.234.43.185

Problem:

  1. Go to app and move switch from Off to On. Dialogue says “Connecting” then I get the Galaxy musical sound (same as one that is played when email arrives) to say phone is connected and a key arrives in the top menu. Checking the ip address shows that the ip address has changed from my current country to the one provided by Avast (connected to London server)

  2. Then every 20-50 seconds i get the same musical “jingle”. This goes on and on every minute or so until I break the secureline connection by turning the app off. Immediately I do this the sound stops repeating. I don’t hear the sound again unless I actually get an email or some other event.

  3. If I activate secureline again, the sound immediately starts playing again every 20-50 seconds. Very irritating and I have to turn secureline off as it drives me mad and anyone else who is nearby.

Regards

Richard

PS - really wanted to take up the offer permanently but can’t do it as long as this problem goes on.

Also see my other post, in the Secureline forum, that shows even with the ip address change to the London server, geo-restricted websites still know i am in not in the UK and won’t allow me to view restricted content. Again, not much point in buying a subscription with that limitation.

Ok, thanks for your reply. Can you please specify, if you have SIM card or SIM less phone? Do you have any orange or Samsung apps installed and if yes, which one?

OK - I have a sim card which was supplied by Orange with the phone.

As to apps - not sure how I tell whose apps they are apart from the names? The only obvious ones are Orange TV movil which seems like browser and Samsung apps which seems similar to Playstore. I don’t use either of them Most of the other apps i have downloaded through Google’s Playstore. EDIT: By the way I have the auto sync function turned off for everything like Gmail, Skype, Whatsapp etc - so it won’t be updates on those that is producing the notification sound

However, running in the background I found things like Viber, Whatsapp, Social Hub and Google command etc. I shut down everything I could find except the operating system and then turned on secureline. The annoying sound seems to have disappeared!

I will turn them back on one by one and see if i can isolate the one that cause the sound to repeat all the time.

The only problem I have is that I am working quite hard and don’t know if i can get the tests done before the secureline offer ends. I have only one more day - unless you can extend it for a few days!!
