Taking on the suggestions from the forum members that 1456 is working well , I installed that. But seems like in my system flash and Avast would not work together ,making Firefox hang everytime whenever I click a Noscript (Addon) place holder over a flash screen. .As suggested by someone earlier I removed the entries related to AVAST from my firewall to build the details fresh, Still nothing.I tried disabling Web guard , mail guard one by one to check , but each time it hanged. I disabled Avast shields control for a few minutes and then everything worked well.
So went ahead and installed 1426. While installing it never gave a clue that it is installing 1456. But now my summary screen looks otherwise. Strangely now flash works well with all shields enabled. But the Virus definition version is always RED and even on pressing the Update button nothing much seems to open except for some progress bar and total time like 4s or 5s. Clicking on the summary very much shows the same picture.
Your expiration date and virus definitions are out of sync. Expiration 07/08/2012 and definitions of 07/17/2012, but the bar graph shows that you have quite a bit of time left. Try an Avast repair as outlined in http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=101624.msg813077#msg813077.
For some reasons AVAST tries to display the product version as 1456, eventhough after the first restart after installing 1426 it correctly shows as 1426. There is definitely some confusion here… Or is it that I have to run the AVAST clear tool??
Have you rebooted your machine to see if this fixes the problem?
Yes I did but after the first restart I think it was hibernated. I will reboot once again to keep you posted.
Usually the reboot will do the trick. Also make sure the date and time on your machine is correct.
If this does not correct the problem, the next time Avast does a definitions update usually resets the sync problem.
Everytime I start the machine I get the red alert of AVAST being unable to update the signatures.
When you uninstalled v.1456 and went back to v.1426, did you use the uninstaller tool and remove ALL previous versions and products of Avast with a reboot in between in Safe Mode?
I guessed you would ask ;). I was tired so I directly installed 1426 after disconnecting internet. After the first restart AVAST did display the version as 1426 and the virus signateures both in RED. I connected the net and the virus signature became green and the version still at 1426. But today morning I find it reversed as 1456 - GREEN and the signature still stuck at 120720-0 RED
Did you use the Avast Uninstaller Tool and remove all the versions like I said above (including v.7.0.1456)?
No. I installed over the top. But as I said after the first restart the display was ok. Later it became erroneous…
I’d like you do to an uninstall and clean install of Avast:
- Save a copy of Avast and save it to your HDD:

- Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
- Go into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool. Uninstall ALL previous versions and products of Avast you had on this machine and reboot in between each uninstall.
- Reboot.
- Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
- Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for Free, Pro, or AIS online.

As SafeSurf asked, can you verify that your system date and time are correct? There are obvious inconsistencies in the picture you posted.
Did you attempt the Avast repair before overinstalling? Since the overinstall with the earlier version, a clean install following SafeSurf’s directions is the best option now.
Yes they are correct and I confirm that. Meanwhile what made you suspect that time and date could be wrong? The image had been captured the day earlier to posting.
How did the uninstall and clean install go? Problems solved?
AVAST 1426 is installed ,working fine and updated in my 64bit Win 7. As for 1456 not yet too sure that it has addressed properly the flash issue…

Because the expiration date of 07/08/2012 is well before the definitions update, and therefore shouldn’t have updated after 07/08/2012 even though the registration graph shows you had 18 days left. Since you verified your date/time were correct, that’s not an issue.
Well for some humor … the sequencing is british dd/mm/yy and has caught everyone unawares… ???
