Another BSOD

I had another BSOD on startup the same culprit

On Sun 5/22/2011 5:51:19 AM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\052211-14430-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: aswsp.sys (aswSP+0x44640)
Bugcheck code: 0xE3 (0xFFFFF880045A4640, 0xFFFFFA800894D570, 0x0, 0x2)
Error: RESOURCE_NOT_OWNED
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\aswsp.sys
product: avast! Antivirus System
company: AVAST Software
description: avast! self protection module
Bug check description: This indicates that a thread tried to release a resource it did not own.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: aswsp.sys (avast! self protection module, AVAST Software).
Google query: aswsp.sys AVAST Software RESOURCE_NOT_OWNED

I’ll get the minidummp uploaded.
Joe

This bug should be already fixed – it seems, something failed during aswsp.sys loading and it bsods.
However, I’d like to ask you if you can compress \Windows\memory.dmp (rar/7z) and upload it on our ftp – I’d like to look at your crash in more detail.

Thanks.

I just uploaded it a few min ago. I did a clean install of first public version of 6.0 and have upgraded since. It seems to happen if I forget and shutdown fast after closing programs instead of waiting for 15-30 sec.
Joe

You have uploaded this file:
Joe_S Minidump.zip (17kb)
unfortunately this zip archive contains minidump (268kb) (from \Windows\Minidump folder) and I’d like to ask you if you can upload kernel dump (\Windows\memory.dmp) – it has usually something around 500Mb ~ 2Gb, but you can compress it to 100~200Mb.

I found it and will upload it. I was looking for a folder like minidump. My checked and my setting is for kernel memory dump. Thanks fir the help.
Joe

I just had another one I will get the dump files uploaded.
Joe

thanks, this bug was already fixed - it’s up to vlk now when he’ll release a new program update

Nice to hear it, my father notebook has the same problem, I just looked at dumps this weekend, the same problem.

Thanks for the reply I hope they release its soon.
Joe

i hope the BSOD fixing beta goes out soon, i have some BSODs but they most likely unrelated (DirectX components and video drivers)
ofcourse the one related to my avast BSODs i’m unable to replicate :frowning:

(yeah updated AMD drivers so it can be anything now :frowning: )
