I’ve looked at a lot of the posts for connection timeout problems, but none of them seem to suit my problem. I get about 10 pop-up messages at the same time every minutes with the following message:
Internet connection timeout elapsed. Continue waiting?
(Shareaza.exe → dsb215.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl;119)
What should I do to solve this problem other than never running Shareaza agian? I’m completely stumped.
After scanning with avast (archive option checked), try:
online spyware scanning at http://www.spywareguide.com/txt_onlinescan.html
online virus scanning at http://www.security-ops.tk/
It will be good use SpyBot and Ad-aware scanning too. Oh, HijackThis will be a good thing.
After all :-[, can you post if you’re infected?
You should configure the mail scanner to ignore connections of this program: add this line to file avast4.ini under [MailScanner]:
IgnoreProcess=Shareaza.exe
Vojtech, if I’m not wrong this is the case when a P2P application to escape from the firewall is using an non-standard protocol (or port).
Am I right?
Won’t the user be unprotected ignoring this process? (I think not as it is not an email traffic…).
ok, I'm not sure if oyu guys decided to put the exception in the mailscanner or not, but I did. Should it look like this:
[MailScanner]
IgnoreProcess=shareaza.exe
Underneath that there's still a lot of stuff, but will that be acceptable? The pop-ups still come up, though, about 10 at a time. VERY annoying.
Technical, what did you mean by "can you post if you're infected"? I could be posting from another computer, but I'm not, and even if I was infected, why couldn't I post? Oh well, nevermind really... I'm running spybot and ad-aware as we speak. I used to have spyhunter, but it seems to have dissapeared off my computer. I didn't unistall it, but the shortcuts to it don't work and I can't find any paths to it. I guess i'll re-install it. I'll post again when the other searches are complete.
