Yes, this sounds like a promising firewall. I will be checking it next few days. If I’m satisfied with results, I am sure I will leave it protecting my system.
It would be really nice if we can find some good (objective) reviews about this firewall… and when I say reviews, I mean reviews done by some valuable firewall experts, not some 25-years-working-for-New-York-Times-journalist. Experiences like that are much appreciated, but not in this field. We need some good people who understand firewalls and antivirus software in and out.
A tough dilema between Comodo Personal Firewall and this one ;D
Actually it’s nto that hard to evaluate firewall. At least it should pass GRC ShieldsUp! tst anytime you test it, everything else is down to user preference (number of settings, GUI design and stuff like that).
RejZor… I’ll wait your opinion about it… I’m with Comodo right now, it’s working ok…
But I can’t wait that long to test another freeware ;D ;D
Let us know what do you feel with this new firewall.
I found Jetico unbelievable annoying firewall (just MHO)… with all those pop-ups that wouldn’t stop for anything in the World. Even though you confirm everything tens of times, it would still keep asking same questions. Many people reported same issue.
I am testing Ashampoo and I really like what I see. It passed all those tests, so it looks like it does what it should do… to protect. I know I have my hardware router as well, but still this is nice addition.
And this is how memory usage looks like right now. I’ve noticed sometimes it goes up to 8, 10, 14 which is still much better than Kerio, ZA and many others out there.
Thank you Sasha for taking the plunge and pointing out the easy feature.
Even the rules don’t look that hard to set up.
It’ll go on my main system as soon as I get it back from the shop…
Thank You Sasha for taking the time to share your results with this new free product. Appreciate it.
Edit: I know that I didn’t see anything from this company that stated their Firewall would work with a Win 98, ME machine etc. I e-mail them, asked that question and they responded with it only works with Win 2000 and XP systems.
If this is true, it’s very bad… Haven’t tested it but ANY personal firewall should pass this test out of the box. Otherwise it’s not worth using as firewall…
Hey RejZoR, It passed the tests until I turned off Windows firewall and that’s when shields up showed that my ports were closed ( not stealthed) and that the ping request went through. I’m back to COMODO now.
Hello!
Just a question, i use Tiny Personal Firewall and i set it on “Ask me…”
for every incoming and outgoing conections, and i made the ShieldsUP tests and the result was that all the ports are stealth, exept two ports, port=0 , and port=1 wich were closed…I did not made any changes to the firewall, so is this bad thing, that this two ports are closed and not invisible?? : Or I will have to make some changes…I dont like when i feel not protected :-\
