Another mbam fp???

Another of the many mbam fp’s? ::slight_smile:

ESET, MSE & SAS doesn’t detect:

Registry Data Items Infected:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChanges (Hijack.DisplayProperties) → Bad: (1) Good: (0) → No action taken.

MBAM does not get many fp’s

That is a setting you made:

I like Active Desktop so I let MBAM fix it.

This is all over the internet… It seems to be common with 64 bit os’s. Anyway, The result I came up with is that it is indeed a FP.

YoKenny,

I have my desktop icons hidden on both my Vista x64 & XP machines, that means an inactive desktop?

This fp was found on Vista x64 with mbam quick scan.

Nothing was found on XP with mbam quick scan, surprisingly. ::slight_smile:

It’s unusual for mbam not to find a fp.

No, hiding the icons is different to active desktop (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/171437), so it doesn’t mean your desktop is inactive.

yeah I’ve had this FP with MBAM as well, just send it to your ignore list, no need to worry at all. Their forums is full of posts about it  and as David said, the active desktop has got nothing to do with icons or your desktop being active, it’s about the implementation of web elements on it…feature was never used (by me) in XP…thought it was abandoned completely.

I believe it was abandoned from Vista on.

Yep…that’s why I’m actually wondering why keys related to it are still found in Win7 registry.

I guess the registry is still a bit of an archaic structure, there are probably many redundant settings. It would I guess be a massive task to start from square on in the registry and as far as I’m aware the win7 registry is even bigger than Vista.
