This problem occurred on my XP Pro (32bit) system today. What does it mean? I think the database is actually not updated. (Avast5\defs\11031200 !)

No, if two times didn’t fixed it… A third time is not likely to change anything. Try a repair of avast: control panel > software > click avast > choose change/remove > choose repair After it is finished, reboot and check if it solved the problem.
