anti-theft battery usage 30%

Hi all:

I am trying Anti-theft on my Sony Xperia Z Ultra (Android 4.3) for 2 days now. Here are the specs of the phone:

The battery usage reports about 30% of battery usage for Anti-theft (“Such Mich” is the anti-theft app name I have chosen).

It seems the problem is “GPS usage”.

However, I have GPS off (in the phone’s location settings) and geofencing off (in the avast anti-theft settings).

How can I reduce the battery usage? Avast Mobile Security seems an amazing program, but with such a battery drain, I don’t think I want to use it.

Thanks.

Hello,

we are really trying to be very careful with the ressources of our customers devices. maybe one of these suggestions can help you improve performance:

  • have you turned the file shield on? it’s a minor gain in security but a huge ressource eater as every access to a file is beeing scanned.
  • is the networkmeter enabled? since your device has android 4.x, you already have an android provided network meter in the phones settings. deactivate ours to avoid redundancy.
  • check your firewalls settings (if activated). maybe there’s something set wrong.
  • Maybe Anti-Theft marked the phone as “lost” and tries to get location data/keeps the data connection open all the time. Just open Anti-Theft once to get it back to “found” mode.

reboot your phone and check the battery consuption a few hours later (open your phone’s settings and select “battery” to see what app consumes how much). Usually our apps aren’t even listed, as only apps that consume more than 2% of the total battery usage are mentioned)

have a nice day,

Werner

Thanks for the answer. I have rebooted and since yesterday (18 hours more or less) everything seems fine, anti-theft doesn’t even show on the battery usage. I guess I had missed a reboot.

- have you turned the file shield on? it's a minor gain in security but a huge ressource eater as every access to a file is beeing scanned.
File shield is off. Also, App Shield is on only at installation of apps, not on access.
- is the networkmeter enabled? since your device has android 4.x, you already have an android provided network meter in the phones settings. deactivate ours to avoid redundancy.
Yes, network meter was on. I disabled it now.
- check your firewalls settings (if activated). maybe there's something set wrong.
Firewall is off.

Thanks for the suggestions. Everything seems to be working fine now!

Hello, I have the same problem.
Anti-Theft (rooted) is keeping my device awake all the time. It is not marked as lost. Mobile Security and Antivirus are not installed.

Do you have any ideas what prevents the Galaxy Note 3 from going to deep sleep?

Have you rebooted the device since installing anti-theft? That was the solution for me. After that, usage went back to normal.

Good luck.
