Hello, I installed Avast Antitheft on my android cell earlier this year and I have forgotten the pass code. I live in the USA and use a cell phone service that only works in the USA (Walmart’s Straighttalk ). I am now in Italy on a 1 month vacation. My cell worked fine when the plane took off in the USA.
Upon arriving in Italy, I took out my SIM card as I was going to buy an Italian SIM, so I could have phone service here. Avast Antitheft went on, locking up my phone because I forgot my password. Only options I have to unlock my phone is to send a text to the number I specified in my Pin recovery settings. Problem is…, the number I specified in recovery settings is for my husband, who is with me on vacation in Italy, and who also has no phone service in Italy with his phone (he also has Straighttalk that only works in USA.
I REALLY need use of my phone… I had downloaded numerous travel apps and city walks etc, that I want to use while traveling.
OK. By further searching this forum, I found out a solution to at least regain the use of my phone… did a factory reset. I have a Motorola Atrix and was able to get all of my contacts back thru their backup portal, but I lost all my travel apps. The phone did show shadow boxes of what apps I had however, to jog my memory to download them again. Or at least try to do so, on a slow hotel connection … and definitely a waste of my precious vacation time.
I would like to point out that prior to posting the above message asking for help, I put in an Avast ticket OVER a week ago and received NO response.
NADA. Greatly affected 1/4 of my vacation!! Shame on you, Avast for not even bothering to respond in a timely manner.
Consequently, I am Very dissatisfied with Avast for cell phone usage. This dissatisfied customer will NEVER use avast on his phone again. I agree with the principle idea behind the program, but this program as it stands just creates too many problems when one traveling.
