anti-Theft setup requires to allow "UNKNOWN SOURCES"

Very strange - installed “avast! Mobile Security 1.0.2129” from the App Store.
Started it, then tried to configure “Anti-Theft”. There I get this text:

“Setup will need to access non Android-Market download locations. Please enable installation of Non-Market apps in your system settings”.

How come that this App requires to load from an off-market repository??
Is it seriously avast that did not manage to solve this other, than to require on to enable “allow unknown sources”?

Searched the manual and the web and the forums to find a mentioning of this by an authoritative- no result…
Some AT&T customers have come over this as well, they just discussed how to “allow unknown” in their built.
Not allowing unknown sources is 101 of malware-prevention.

So I wonder whether in the end someone “hi-jacked” this app?

Hi,

this behavior is correct since during installation Anti-Theft downloads a customized installation package based on information you enter. The download is performed dynamically from our own servers since this can’t be done via common markets.

After installing it, you can disable that option again
