Anti-Virus does not start after memory test

When I right click on “start Avast Anti Virus” icon in the task bar, the memory scanner runs and then the screen says continuing to run program but nothing comes up. I have tried to “repair” the program in add, remove programs in control panel. I have uninstalled from control panel, run avast uninstall and reinstalled the program. I have used the user interface a couple of times but I can’t get it to come up to do a manual scan.

I was running Trend Micro that came with my computer, uninstalled it from control panel.

Most of the time this occurs because you have pieces of a previous Anti-Virus program on your computer.

Please let us know what A/V program you had on your computer before you installed Avast.

We will then be able to find you an un-install tool to clean your system, and Avast will likely work fine afterwards.

Welcome to the forum.

I was running Trend Micro that came with my computer, uninstalled it from control panel.

Sometimes, (especially with A/V Programs these days) uninstalling from add/remove programs just doesn’t cut it.

Trend Micro usually does remove itself normally, but there could have been some problems.

You might try the removal tool instructions listed on this page: http://esupport.trendmicro.com/3/How-do-I-remove-Trend-Micro-AntiVirus-plus-AntiSpyware-from-my-compute.aspx#P150_1806
