Antispam Blacklist Problems - Endpoint Portection Suite Plus

Hi there

We seem to have a problem on our client machines. whenever a spam mail is received and the “blacklist” button is clicked in outlook the mail is sent to junk mail and the address is added as blacklisted in Additional Protection → antispam → Expert Settings → blacklist.
the problem comes that every five minutes or so this blacklist clears itself of all entries, whether added through outlook or manually created.

Version Information

Clients
Avast! Endpoint Protection Plus
Version 130227-1

Server
Avast! Small Office Administration Console
Version 1.2.2.28
Database Version 1450

Any help is Appreciated.

Good Morning!

I am running Endpoint Protection Plus as well and I have found that you can’t make any lasting changes on the clients end, as they are all cleared out eventually. To make lasting changes they have to be made in the ‘avast! Small Office Administration’ consul. (or which ever consul you are using for management)

in the consul: Under NETWORK - Group view - Edit group settings (button)

Shields settings - Antispam shield (tab) - Blacklist = enter the address to be blacklisted.

I have noticed that too but doesn’t that sorta defeat the purpose of having the outlook plugin?

is there no way of allowing the client to manage its own antispam settings?

Yeah, that doesn’t make any sense what so ever.

The whole point of having that plug-in with Outlook I assumed, was to build up a nice database of blacklisted and SPAM e-mail addresses that my users find.

What gives?

This of course I bet will go un-answered like 95 % of what I need help with.

Good post though !!! Let’s wait and see…

bump.

Yeah I am going to have to bump this topic, Just tested this on version 8.0.4190 and the problem still persists. This is hugely annoying and surely it cannot be that difficult to fix.

I am really starting to change my oppinion of Avast!

I never realized the importance of the blacklist and it’s uselessness.

If someone blacklists an e-mail, I want the whole network to have that address blacklisted.

Why does it not work this way?

Can we make it work this way?
