First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member and I don’t use Anti-Track.

I don’t see anything in the web page suggesting it doesn’t support Windows 10, given that this is a web based product - anti-tracking - which by its nature would be done via your browser.
- I would have thought this was more a browser supported issue, as I don’t believe the Firefox supports the Anti-Tracking add-on (or not very well), as it doesn’t get a great review. I don’t know how Anti-Track would work without integration with your browser ?
Hi David,
thanks for your answer. I found out Antitrack doesn’t work with Windows 10 Version S (?) whatever that means.
Regards
Thomas
You’re welcome.
I wasn’t sure what Windows 10 Version S was so I googled it.
It is a streamlined version of Windows 10 focused on security and performance, allowing only apps from the Microsoft Store and using Microsoft Edge as the default browser.
Thanks David, that helps a lot. I think i let Anti-Track expire before the end of this period.
Take care and thanks for your time.
Thomas
You’re Welcome.
Ensure that you cancel your subscription renewal well in advance as if you setup payment mandate for this it will kick in close to the expiry date.
Better to do that than had to seek a refund.
Now I’m not entirely how this works with the Avast Anti-Track if it will show up in your Avast Account activity.
Cancelling automatic renewal of the Avast subscription
- See https://support.avast.com/article/account-unsubscribe/#pc or https://support.avast.com/article/35 ,use the primary link for advice.
- Also see https://support.avast.com/article/Unsubscribe-FAQ/#pc
It would be best to investigate your Avast Account now and see if your Anti-Track subscription is listed ?
Thanks David, my account ends March 2026, i will look forward to cancel before expiration.
Really better tan to ask for a refund.
Hope you’re fine,
Cheers
Thomas
Thanks, i apprciate your help a lot.
You’re very welcome.
I’m keeping well, just getting ready to go out for my morning run.
I hope you had good weather ![]()
Weather, it just a pain, but for me not a reason not to go.
I have a lot of running kit for all weathers, rain is perhaps the most miserable. However my running waterproofs are excellent (and expensive).
The problem with most waterproofs is that they are great at keeping the rain out, but you get wet from the inside. So finding a good breathable waterproofs (top and leggings/shorts) that are very breathable, yet waterproof. These are not that common and generally quite expensive.
Possibly the worse is icy or packed snow, so out come my ice fittings for my trainers.
So weather isn’t a good enough excuse for me. I have just had my round of annual Flu and Covid jabs and that knocks me for six. I ensure I do my run before the inoculations, the next day is the really tough one. I may reduce the distance and my pace is much slower.
In one weeks time I will have been exercising every day for eleven and a half years without missing a day. So the encentive is not to have to start a new string of days/months/years.
I personally prefer my MTB, running is a mess with my back. In cycling in the rain is not very safe, especially in the autumn. As you say, waterproof cloth which keeps you dry also from the inside isn’t a bargain. When i go up hills i of course i get warm inside. I admire your discipline, bad weather is my go for the swimming hall. I enjoy looking outside watching heavy weather while remaining in relatively warm water. ![]()
I can swim but have never been a fan of swimming (drowning avoidance only), I was based in Malta for two years and swimming in the warm sea now that’s different. Also did some scuba whilst there.
For me I can switch off when running, for the most part my runs aren’t on major roads, old hardened roads no longer in use but accessible. Where the road is active, there are footpaths, so it isn’t so bad.
I used to cycle, but to get the same benefit I had to stay out longer and go further and lunatic drivers with no knowledge of or care for cyclists are the number one danger.
I understand your fear of getting drowned. Long ago a stream put me under water to the bottom in my nearby river.
Still don’t know how i got up again because i gave fighting for life.
Especially the guys with racing-bikes which attend my homeplace are stupid and crazy, don’t care for anything.
I’ve been to Malta, also long ago. I was shocked how many people shoot even protected birgs when they are on their way to Africa to stay there over the winter.
David, do mind asking you something not concerning Avast products but my Windows office? The original office key is required but can’t find it anymore. My equipment is almost 10 years old.
Cheers
Thomas
Unfortunately it is a very, very long time since I used MS Office when effectively MS had the monopoly position.
Now there are free or more cost effective products than MS Office and for the most part are compatible with the various MS file formats.
Up until recently I used LibreOffice which could open MS documents. I started getting some windows crashes the kind it is so hard to determine the cause Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error, the windows/stopcode page was as much use as a chocolate ashtray. So every 7-10 days or so I get a blue screen with that error.
I only used used LibreOffice for some very basic spreadsheet stuff tracking my fuel mileage and recording my running stats, neither of them very important. I think the crash also corrupted one of these files and LibreOffice failed to run.
I see, no problem. I will look forward to get an alternative to MS.
So i’m not the only one having trouble with office. Thanks for your advising me LibreOffice. By the way, where are you located? US i guess? I’m German, thats the reason for my bad English.
I’m in the UK.
Your English is better than my German - I spent several military tours in Germany and much of what I learnt has been lost through lack of use. I used to spend time at Sennelager on my free weekends at what was the Rhine Army Parachute Centre. German civilians were allowed access to the parachute facilities, training, equipment and aircraft. Most of whom were eager to use English. I have many fond memories of my time in Germany and the friends I made.
One of my tours was at Detmold on an Airfield on a top of a hill, where on weekends (in-between parachuting) I learnt to fly (gliders), eventually getting my solo glider pilots license. Sport and adventurous training was a big thing in the military.
English is much more common in foreign countries than German, so no worries
English was one of the few subjects i really liked back in school. Up til today i learn new words or expressions, cuttently i read the biography of Derek Shulman (Gentle Giant) in English and it is really fun. So you spent some time in Germany, in contrary to me never been in GB unfortunately. Because of my love to music and geography i always felt familiar to your country as well as to Italy and Austria.
I’ve been at military near Kassel but could get out before a big NAto-manouver in Norway.
Paragliding; something i always considered but stayed with skiing and motorbiking, although i stopped the latter because being to dangerous today.
I spent just over two years in a British Military Unit within AMF (L) - Allied Mobile Force (Land). That was a part of a UK NATO Commitment. I certainly got around in just over two years, Italy, Denmark, Greece, Norway (twice) in the winter.
The first exercise in Norway (6 weeks) started with Arctic Survival training, my second tour I did my Arctic survival Instructors course. This was to prepare me for the following year when I would be responsible for basic Arctic survival training training for the new people in the unit. I was promoted and that resulted my being posted to a new unit.
I enjoyed my time, tough at times but enjoyable none the less.
So you were a professional soldier? I agree, especially in Norway must be a really tough time.
I had the luck just being busy in the office militarywise. I didn’t enjoy any day, the room-mates were ok but most of the guys were simpy primitive jerks.
There are two categories of units Regular service (Army, Navy, Air force) and Territorial Army.
The regulars can sign up for varying terms, it used to be 6, 9, 12 and you can extend to 22 years provided you have the training, rank, good service. It is possible to go past that if you get an officer commission and have a high enough rank to get into the commander ranks.
The Territorial’s have to do a short form of basic training and attend so many weekends per year, plus a longer military training exercise.
As far as jerks go, that happens in all walks of life, but less so in the Armed forces when you are looking after each others backsides, it isn’t tolerated and punishments can be very severe.
