antivar virus

Ok, i run avast 5 and iobit 360. Last night I went to a site I always go to and suddenly everything went wrong. I had an icon on my taskbar that was named antivar solutions pro. It kept popping up saying I needed to install it, which I said no. I immediately disconnected my internet, although I kept getting my ie window opening trying to go to sites like viagra, adult, etc. I tried to open my taskmanager to stop the process, but it said it was infected, and my windows security (didn’t look my security window, and avast usually pops up not that?) wouldn’t let me open it. Anything I tried that would let me get to the process did this. I was tempted to reboot with a boot scan but avast didn’t seem to be able to find it when I ran scans so I was afraid that it might have been infected also. Anyways, after many attempts to try to stop it, I just did a destructive restore. As soon as this was done, i downloaded a clean avast 5 and iobit. then of course I had to download all of the updates (I run xp and originally it was sp1). all said and done, my main concern is whether this actually cleaned it. It is a big pain, but I couldn’t go on the net to find any info or do anything else. I don’t have any of the popups or seem to have any problems now, and my speed is where it should be. I have noticed that my cpu is not running as high, but that may be because I don’t have all the programs back on yet. I ran another scan with my programs and they say it is clean but I am not sure if I should trust this. any ideas? thanks

Why you should not trust IObit

There is a tool for removal of IObit software, If you decide to do that
you will find it on the right side of the page. Bitremover 1.4.1

it is not a good idea to run more than one resident antivirus program. Instead of more protection, your computer will actually have less protection due to conflicts between the 2 or more av programs.

Do you trust iObit?
Even so, two antivirus is the worst thing for your computer.

iobit doesn’t run auto. only when I have it do a scan, which I did after avast said my machine was clean. I only use it as a second opinion. the reviews I’ve read on it are good, unless I am getting mislead. I got it from CNET. com?? If there is another free program that would be better, and that might stop something like this from happening again, I sure could use some input, lol. From what I have read on this virus, it isn’t supposed to act quite like it did on my computer so I am concerned that it has been tweaked to be more destructive. My router is in easy reach always so I can disconnect my computer from it quickly. Thank god for that, lol. any ideas on good programs to use for backup such as I use iobit? I had malwarebites, too, I should probably put it back on now?

sorry, just read the post from malwarebytes. Unbelievable!!! will forward it to those i know are using iobit. Guess that answers my question, though. Get rid of iobit and reinstall malwarebytes??
