Antivir useless?

Symantec actually says antivir is dead and useless. What das avast replay to that?

That approach sounds to be more corporate oriented than for the average user initially. There is no way I’m going to setup some fake credentials on my PC and then invite someone in to steal the bogus information; however, that sounds like an interesting option that Target might try. Anyway, don’t hold your breath waiting for the discontinuance of personal AV solutions. Personally, I’ll use them as long as they are available and they do work just fine because I have never been infected.

Symantec is known to be somewhat behind when it comes to detections.
Their antivirus is better known as “Norton”.

Vince Steckler (Avast CEO) worked for Symantec in the past.
He knows what he’s talking about.

The fact that you have been infection free says a lot about the protection avast provides.
Try surfing the web without avast, or any antivirus, and see how many infections you get.
