My PC has been infected by this for the last 24 hrs but think I have managed to get rid of it. I’d like to know why Avast didn’t stop it infecting my PC in the first place?

How did you get clean? Do you know the name of the virus or the infected files?

Well, no I don’t but thought Avast would have stopped it, seems to have been around a while?
Got my system free of it by searching for the files, which I found and deleted 3 out of the 6, couldn’ delete the other 3. This allowed me to open a blank page, so ran the full scan on Avast, this didn’t find anything so I put SpyHunter on and ran another full scan this found 3 infected files but I wouldn’t pay the money to delete them. I then put Malwarebytes on and this found 3 files and I deleted them via their free 14 day trial.
Good. Can you check the MBAM Quarantine and see which files are there and which is the name of the infector?
Well, no I don't but thought Avast would have stopped it, [b]seems to have been around a while?[/b]new versions are released every day :-\
