antivirus will not remove virus.

i have avast free antivirus, when i run a scan, it keeps telling me i have a virus, but when i hit resolve all, nothing happens. why is this?

I am having this same issue

We need more info
what does the message from avast say … a screenshot may help
what file is detected and full file path

here is the screenshot, i don’t really know where to get more information, i cannot figure out how to find anything more about it myself

Not much info in that pic unless there is a detail button?, run a normal scan like quick or full not smart scan

avast doesn’t say it has found a virus, it says it has found issues.
It can be CleanUp has found something.

i have done a full scan and it appears to have removed the viruses

If a full scan had made a detection and removed it, then it would have reported that in the scan results. If it didn’t do that, then I suspect that this may be/is/was an issue with the Smart Scan.

There have been several topics reporting some issues when running a Smart Scan, yet when running a specific scan there are no problems/issues found. For the most part these issues (reported in the forums) found related to the network (not virus) scan.

scan did find and remove several items, while smart scan listed only one. here is screenshot

OK, the only strange thing is why the Smart Scan didn’t take action at the time (not so smart) and why it only reported some issues and only one threat detected.

Though most of the detections were AdWare and I can only assume that was what the avast Smart Scan considered ‘issues’ and the Threat was a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). Scanning for PUPs in some scans are off by default.

So it looks like all have been taken care of now.

Since you had lots of Adware you may also have more PUP = Possible Unwanted Programs so i recomend a scan with Malwarebytes for additional check
