Any plans to make avast 8 work with vista 64?

There are enough posts about the freeze issue already so instead I would like to ask a couple of fairly straight forward questions in the hope that someone from avast can answer them.

Are the avast team actually doing anything to make avast 8 compatible with vista 64bit?

Have they even acknowledged that this problem exists?

I shouldn’t have to change values in my registry in order to make a product I paid for work and the complete lack of feedback from avast after happily taking my money is insulting.

Don’t get your hopes up.
I do not think Avast will make any statements on this “user-forum”.

Unfortunately Support is not that willing to aid me with certain concerns I have/had.
My issue is now well over 2 weeks going and I am still non the wiser.

Perhaps we are better of not getting the full versions and just sticking with the free versions??

I have same issue.

Still waiting.

My ticket was started on the 6th of march 2013.

Up till today I have had 1 reply which is basically the same as forum members were typing down in what one should try.
Today 27th of March 2013 I till have to get a serious reply from Avast! official support.

I suggest you stay away from Avast for fast answers.
I will assume they forgot to feed the hamster.

In order to fix the issue, you need to disable the aswVmm driver as described e.g. here:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=118632.msg915250#msg915250

It is preferable to make this change from Safe mode.

Thanks
Vlk

Anyone tested avast 8.0.1488 with vista 64 bit ultimate?

or try to uncheck “Settings → Toubleshooting → Enable hardware-assisted virtualization”
