Turned my computer on this afternoon and when I came back several minutes later I right clicked on the avast icon and then the “show last pop-up message”. This is what I saw. I went to the UI and updated manually. I already use the direct connection for updates in the settings. Haven’t changed anything except last night I updated to the latest malwarebytes data. Just curious if anyone else had this today. I booted up a spare lap top to check and the update came through normally. Its no big deal unless it persists, just never happened before.
Woops sorry the pic is so small, what it says is,“the last attempt to update your virus definitions was unsuccessful. To ensure you are protected from the latest threats try again to update your virus definitions now.” (which I successfully did manually)
Johnny its only available to view if an update has come through,in other words suppose you booted up your computer and avast updated automatically, now for some reason you shut down your computer and reboot, the “show the last pop up message” will be grayed out until another pop up message (usually an update) is received, unless someone else can explain it better I believe this is why that happens.

Occasionally I get this (update error) and for me that is usually on my win7 netbook that uses wifi to connect to my router (for some reason my wifi hasn’t established).
It could also be relater to the avastUI > Settings > Updates > Proxy settings if not set to Direct connection (no proxy).
Dave must have just been a glitch, btw,I do have the “direct connection (no proxy)” as my setting. You had recommended it to me in a previous post. Thanks.
I though you would probably have the setting I suggested, just confirmation.
When I get this update failure I just do a manual update check and forget about the error. Only when an error becomes more frequent do I then investigate, for one off or intermittent errors I generally don’t investigation, time and effort versus finding the fault or benefit from the investigation.
