Anyone else having this Problem? Windows Vista/ Cannot find path....

I have installed Avast! 4.7 on my Windows vista machine. When I have it do a scan of my machine it goes through the scan, and when complete it states that is could not find path C:/users/Programs etc…

Is there a way I can fix this?
Is there something I did wrong?

do you have the exact error message from your warning.log file? it’s located in your %avast%\data\log directory…

Here is a pic of what Avast is telling me:

Error 5 is access denied. Are you the user shown in that path?
I mean, are you logged as Walsh?

Yes, Its the only user on the comp aside from the admin which is me to… I tried running it as an Admin and still nothing…

I see…
Vista uses circular links to %Program Files% and %Users% folders.
Avast is just reporting it. You can uncheck the options for reporting soft and hard errors on the avast settings.
It was a problem, already solved (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=27330.msg223192#msg223192). Now, the only thing that rests is the reporting.

The odd thing is I have installed Avast! on my laptop which is a Vist OS as well, and have not eperienced this problem… Infact, I tested it the other night on my laptop and did not get the same errors. To the best of my knowledge I have both computers set up the sameway… Can you think of what may be causing this, if its not avast?

Hmm… so, even if you run as Admin, you get the “System cannot find the path specified” errors for C:\Users.… etc.?
How exactly did you start the scan? (I mean, did you check the “Local disks” icon, or entered the path manually into the folder selection dialog…?)
What language version of Vista do you have?
Is there any unusual update installed? (like SP1 beta, for example)

Like I said, it works find on my laptop… I started the scan by right clicking the lettered ball in the bottom right corner, which opened up the avast virus scan, then I chose the drive('s) to search. When I right click on a file, as far as I know it scans it… As far as my desktop system, Im not completly confident… I know it did make me aware of a virus which I almost downloaded, immediatly after it was discovered…

I have the english version

To my knowledge I have no unusual installs…

Hi,
I have Avast! 4.8 on XP SP2 and encounter the same pb ?
As I do a synchronization between my Hard Disk and a Network Ethernet Drive,
some files were not copied on the Network Drive
I read to understand, the windows Events attached to my Antivirus.
I see some errors spaced from 1 minute about :

warning :
AAVM - scanning warning: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx [UNI]: \ETHERNET…IO\Handle.html (\ETHERNET…IO\Handle.html) returning error, 00000005.

Erreur :
AAVM - scanning error: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx: avfilesScanReal of \ETHERNET…IO\Handle.html failed, 00000005.

Here “…” to keep some discretion.

After, I copy each file separatly without any pb.

Is-it a problem of timing - timeout to access the file ?

Thanks for your help.
