Anyone ever figure out what causes this in scan?

Seems to be getting worse.

Thanks

I don’t know if you have the avast screen saver scan running ?

Some though it might be that.

Or do you do a lot of explorer context menu scans ?

Thanks for the reply David.

I don’t understand explorer context menus scans but yes, screensaver scan is always on. Should I turn that off? I already have turned off email scan because of the certificate problem that avast! won’t solve.

Perhaps I should stop avast! from protecting against viruses and malware and then I will have no problems.

I really appreciate the post.

The right click menu in windows explorer is known as the context menu, here you can run/open or take/apply an action on a file/s, etc. one being to have avast scan it using ashQuick.exe (the explorer scan).

Thank you David.

Easy enough to remove from standard scan menu. Click Details below the start button and, if I remember correctly, select or click Delete (scan).

I’ve had that once or twice and wondered where it originated, but that was the solution.

You are correct, of course but look how many there are. Usually there are only a few but this is a bit too much.

Thanks for the reply.

I’d think, using Win 7, if you set several different themes to each run the avast! screen saver, then maybe you might wind up with more than one entry?

Win 7 does have quite a few downloadable screensavers on the microsoft site, went and got a few of them but only set one to run the a/v screensaver scan. I wound up with only one. This also happened on XP a couple of times after setting the a/v scan to run that way, so…

Maybe that is the case here?

No idea. I just removed all of the ??? which is sort of silly because they will just come back but I’ve never seen so many before.

I have removed avast! Internet Security from my XP and Vista computers even though the license doesn’t expire until the end of June.

The Windows 7 computers’ license is good until August.
