I am an extreme novice, just installed AVAST free version for first time about 10 days ago. Seemed to be fine until yesterday. Now I cannot log in to get AOL email through AOL Desktop version (AOL 9.5 works fine). AOL says it’s not AOL. My husband’s computer uses AOL Desktop version and has Norton as opposed to AVAST, is working fine. I keep getting “Cannot Connect to IMAP Server” error message. Please help a novice who needs to access email thru AOL Desktop.

Why do you have to use AOL Desktop “Version” rather than simply going to
www.aol.com and signing into the email account !? I stopped using the
troublesome AOL as an Internet Service Provider several yrs ago and have been
satisfied ever since I did .
Sorry, I hit the wrong key. I too have had problems with avast 5 internet security and AOL. I downloaded this version yesterday and have nothing but a blank screen in my mail. I have no problem accessing my email from another computer. I sent this to support yesterday, but have not heard anything back yet. Anyone have any ideas? I am a real novice too! Help!
And here I thought I was the last person in the world using AOL,I have 5.0 installed on 3 computers,2 using XP and the other Vista,I’m not having any problems with my mail,but I do know AOL is the slowest thing around.
