I have Avast Home edition, how do I set it up to scan AOL email? Both incoming and outgoing.
does aol provides pop mail services or imap services?
you can set up avast for both if you are using an email client for these services from aol…
please read the avast help file…and try running the avast mail wizard… if you have further questions…free feel to post right here…

but to receive mails with aol accompt i use thunderbird mailer with IMAP protocol (imap.fr.aol.com)

yup…avast can support imap…however make sure yours is not a ssl or tsl connections… 
read the help file and try the mail wizard…then post here again if you have any further enquiries
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe AOL already scans outgoing and incoming e-mail using McAfee software. Having said that I also Save any downloads and scan with Avast! before opening them.
