The petition to stop AOL from charging potential spammers was started by
Moveon.org. One of the biggest political spammers out there…IMHO ;D
However, AOL and the rest who’ll soon join this bandwagon still shouldn’t be getting away with this.
I should have the right to decide what mail I deem as SPAM. Paying a fee to AOL or any one else,
“doesn’t make a rotten apple smell any less”.
Absolutely.
But shouldn’t AOL have the right to set its own business practices too? Then, if its customers and investors decide that don’t like the product anymore they can simply spend their money elsewhere.
And really, if Moveon.Org doesn’t like it why don’t they just start their own ISP. They certainly have the financial backing.

Is not this a bit like the Symantic deal with Hotbar to qualify their adware threat as “low”, so user would allow the crap on? If interested “business-parties” start to deal on these issues the end-user aka "victim it seems is always at the wrong end of the stick. If regulation is left to the market, a sort of thing we see being established worldwide, de facto we are running out of defenses or it is getting harder to keep them up.

And haven’t all (or most) of us on this forum walked away from Symanec and similar products because we found companies like avast! that provide a better product and respect us?
I beleive acceptable alternatives will always exist.
