I have recently updated to the new version of avast, and I’m encountering a serious problem. The app crashes regularly, and not just at random, but every single time I’m trying to do anything, from scanning to updating to just scrolling through the interface. I suspect not everybody is having this problem though.
my device is an old samung galaxy 2 tab (at least I think so, I’m not sure about the official device names), and I’m using android 4.2.2
I realise it’s old, but updating is impossible, most likely because new versions of android were not released for older devices.
my question is, am I having a compatibility issue, or in other words, is android 4.2.2 no longer supported by avast? I’m asking because I don’t want to go through the trouble of buying a new device just so I can get avast working (especially not a version which according to what I’ve seen so far and according to other users, isn’t even worth using anymore). If that is the case, I’m afraid I must find a different security software.
thanks. Well, in best case scenario, I should be able to find your specific crash report(s) (those are sent automatically to our servers) and fix it (or let someone else do it). Gonna let you know tomorrow, I’m off work already and have to take care of other stuff
Yeah, the comments on it do talk about familiar issues, but I’ve gotten used to them by now. So, is this something that can be fixed, or do I have to get a new device?
Well it did a scan at least, so that’s something. And the “run your first scan” message is gone now. The thing freaked me out a bit ago. I saw it in my notifications and for a second I thought it said “run while you can”.
Are you sure you know what I am talking about? I can see your email address, I’m pretty sure that’s more private information than app-specific, automatically generated GUID that changes every time you delete your data or reinstall the application. And as I said, you don’t need to post it publicly, PM is enough.
