Actually yea Both Dell and Apple batteries are made by Sony. and My iBook has one of the Recalled batteries so I will be exchanging it tomrrow :-\
it appears Sony has some serious issues with its batteries:
Apple has determined that certain lithium-ion batteries containing cells manufactured by Sony Corporation of Japan pose a safety risk that may result in overheating under rare circumstances.The affected batteries were sold worldwide from October 2003 through August 2006 for use with the following notebook computers: 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4.

Also to make sure this does not happen agian Apple, dell and others are working on a new standard for lithium-ion batteries

Just read another one in the newspaper today for the apple 15" MacBook Pro with a second battery issue, they say those batteries aren’t being recalled, but there is a danger of them overheating. Apple says it will exchange any batteries sent in by worried users.
Dell and Apple are the victims of another Sony Root kit virus
only this virus was hiding in the batteries they both used.
So this is actually another Sony problem and both Apple and Dell are getting a bum rap. ;D
Next time you buy a computer regardless of who the manufactures is,
Make sure it says “No SONY Inside”
Sony share value is coming down.
The company (sony) said in a statement yesterday that it believes the recalls will cost it up to £136 Million (almost $250 million). The announcement led to a fall in Sony’s share price.
Personally I think they have under estimated the cost, not to mention the bad rep.
the 15 inch macbook pros do have a recall. some batteries sent out were not what they said they were (apple said 5.5 hours of battery life and they died in about two) so they are replacing them with higher capacity batteries
can i have a refund!!!
They’ve looked for trouble last year… they’re paid for a bad companion policy

Hmm makes me wonder if my Vaio laptop will be effected by this…
I was wondering the same thing with all these duff Sony batteries in other laptops yet there has been nothing in the news about the Sony laptop range suffering this battery issue/recall.
Perhaps they pass the seconds on to other suppliers ;D ;D just kidding.
