One System I was trying Windows Defender on, went to install a little application to do some video converentions (might be spelled wrong) and such, any video converter free. Anyways Defender totally blocked it saying may perform unwanted actions
I remember before I decided to try this for protection, with Avast I didn’t have any issues with the application. Looks like i’ll be reinstalling it later tonight Avast Free lol, and ignoring other forums that state quite often when I read topics, or post computer problems on them wanting folks to remove Avast lol.
Reason decided to try it, see if i’d like it, and if it was really best to use, i’m thinking maybe not

Many free video and audio converters (and other “freeware”) do contain malware and/or adware. Any Video Converter is also known to be one of the dodgy ones. If you are running Windows 8/8.1/10 your safest best is to look for one in the Microsoft Store instead of Google.
Also, even though people have issues with Avast, it is always recommended to use a thrid-party antivirus like Avast since Windows Defender only provides basic protection. On Windows 10, the built-in Windows Security app will detect that you are running third-party protection and will automatically disable its own real-time protection while Avast is running to prevent conflicts, allowing them to be run together with Windows Security providing system-level protection like firewall while Avast deals with the real-time shields. When scanning your system for malware it is also recommended to run a “second-opinion” scanner after Avast like Malwarebytes Free or HitmanPro for a “second-opinion” and added reassurance.
Ok Avast reinstalled on Desktop, and will be on laptop early tomorrow, and will ignore local computer tech and other forums on removing Avast to use Defender, no more switching programs, Full scan completed on Desktop, all clean, Malwarebytes Free scan done as well–also clean
So think fine for moment, will do same tasks on laptop tomorrow morning, stupid self listened to local PC tech at shop when I had Laptop professionally dust cleaned out to just stick with Defender on that PC to–oops, Avast going back in first thing tomorrow on that one as well
as for the video converter will look on Microsoft store
If Avast and Malwarebytes say you’re clean then you should be OK. However, if you are still unsure you can also use AdwCleaner (a free, lightweight portable scanner from Malwarebytes) which will scan for any remnants of malware on your system and allow you to perform a “basic repair” which will reset some system settings like Winsock and IE/Chrome policies that may have been changed by malware.
PC shop techs do sometimes tend to lie about things like that because they assume that all their customers are “basic” users who only use their PC to surf Facebook and YouTube. It’s always a good idea to be cautious.

Not a thing detected amazingly, so guess even when I was using Defender for a month, no issues.
