Hi,
Windows 7 Avast Premier17.5.2303.
An application was marked as having a virus and moved to quarantine.
I scanned it in quarantine but it was clean so I moved it back and marked it as an exception.
However I still get a windows message that it has a virus, it does not and I know this application is safe.
I am not running windows defender but I am running malwarebytes but that does not show the app as a virus.
Any ideas on how to remove the virus warning please?
Thanks,
Martin

What would help is a screenshot of the alert as there is little information to work with.

Hi David,
Not worth a screen shot as it is just a generic windows warning :-
Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus.
Along with the path and file name.
I have checked the event logs but cannot find any reference.8-((

Hi David,
Thanks for the help but a reboot fixed the problem.

It certainly isn’t any popup related to avast that I have seen before. The fact that having the shields turned off makes no difference kind of confirms that.
Have you actually got that program folder and file on your system and or does Trade Computer Extension ring any bells for you ?
If the file is present you could upload it to virustotal.com (VT) and have it scanned. VT has multiple different AVs so it gets scanned by lots of
