1st time quick scan came back saying Some files could not be scanned. The scan last week was fine. I updated security passwords on many accounts during this week, could this have caused the warning? What action is necessary ?
What or which files?
Could you provide a screenshot?
Have you changed the default settings in the Quick scan ?
The reason I ask is because archives aren’t scanned by default as they are inert and don’t present an immediate risk.
If you haven’t changed the default settings then we need more information on the file name and location.
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are infected or suspect in some way, they just can’t be scanned. If the program that assigned the password were to unpack the archive, they are no longer protected and avast can scan the extracted files.
I will check default settings thanks, I am new at this so I hope I can provide more info. I had about 50 or more files that were not scanned. The Error was Archive is password protected… Most looked similar to this…
C:/users/name/downloads/Bgbutton.png. Sorry could not do screen shot
I’ve gotten the error message after scans that says “Archive is password protected. Some files could not be scanned.”
Checking in my computer and even enabling hidden folders and files, etc… I found that 99% of the files are in a temp directory and are from the latest update from Adobe Flashplayer.
Other than that, I have no issues at all with Avast! and have NEVER had a problem with serious viruses or malware or anything like that.
Yes both of these appear to be Adobe Flash updates and they are password protected, so that is normal.
You should periodically clear out your temp files, you can do this manually of using something like CCleaner to do it for you.
