Archive password protected

My log shows the following, only the first few lines copied:

C:\APPS\Packard Bell Companion\settings.pak\settings.xml [E] Archive is password protected. (42056)
C:\APPS\Packard Bell Companion\users\usersettings.pak\usersettings.xml [E] Archive is password protected. (42056)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat [E] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (32)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr1.dat [E] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (32)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\AlexaRelated.zip\related.htm [E] Archive is password protected. (42056)

Is there any significance in the fact that Avast can’t scan these locations?
Should they be scanned, and if yes how does one go about doing so?

that’s normal… ;)…avast can’t scan password-protected archives…same as any other av programs…

so don’t have to worry… :slight_smile:

Pete needs to understand WHY.

The files of the system are Password Protected so they cannot be changed. If they could de deleted or “repaired” by an antivirus program, it could be catasrophic. Some ini files within programs also ‘password’ protect to prevent tampering.

The archived files you see in Spybot are those spyware files that Spybot removed to it’s safe area/restore. You can delete them from within Spybot and and they will no longer show in the Avast scan result

Hope this clears things up a bit more.
