I did a full scan and 2 infections were found(trojans). The problem is I could do nothing because I got a message saying: The Archive is password protected. I do not understand this at all. Could really use some help here. Thanks.
Can you post the full path please to the infections.
Well, genearally speaking, archive files are inert by nature (can’t harm) even more if they’re password protected.
avast! does NOT use brute force to discover the password and scan within the archive. This is not necessary.
If the archive file is unpacked, all the files generated are scanned in this precise moment (not before).
But if you want to check, extract the archive to a secure folder in your computer (take care!) and submit the files to www.virustotal.com one by one.
How could avast see trojan inside a password protected archive ?
Are You sure that is what avast reported ?
