Arrow won't move in normal mode, Avast won't load.

I have a Dell laptop, Windows 7, Avast Internet Security.

The arrow won’t move in normal mode. tried to run Avast, but since the arrow won’t move, I couldn’t click to get a scan going.

So I went to Safe Mode, the arrow moves there. But when I tried to get Avast to come up I got ‘‘UI failed to load, this is embarrassing. AV service is not responding.’’

I finally used Avastclear to uninstall Avast IS, then reinstalled. Still I get the ‘‘UI failed to load, etc’’. Then I installed Avast Free, but still I get the ‘‘UI failed to load, this is embarrassing. AV service is not responding.’’

Any suggestions? I’d appreciate any help.

Perform a clean installation of the latest avast version.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve uninstalled with Avastclear and reinstalled twice now, still same problems.
