ASB Ads

I found this on ASB today, is Avast pushing ads now…?? :o :frowning:

Yep, Amazon and TurboTax here in the USA. :o :frowning: I delete them when I see them but they come back again at every new session when the main tab opens. ???

[EDIT:]
@ schmidthouse, yes normally that would be the case, but you don’t need to visit these sites for them to appear on the main tab page.

Hi Asyn
I thought those items below search bar were shortcuts to sites recently/frequently visited…lol

Here you go…

ASB Window shortcuts only appear after clearing cookies, etc.,.

I see, interesting

IMO, they can show ads to the free AV users but not to the ones running a paid version…!!

I also noticed an Amazon “shortcut”, but was easily able to “X” it from the home page.
I can’t seem to delete any other “shortcuts” using the 3 dots menu in the short cut.
Selecting the delete shortcut does nothing here. (ASB running on Win10 1809).
I am also getting duplicate shortcuts on the home screen that I have no control over.
Is this a ASB “feature” or a bug?

Edit: I guess this answers my complaint about not being able to delete shortcuts.

I see these ads every time I open the ASB browser. That’s how I get on the forum and Facebook

There is no paid version of ASB. It’s a free product.

I know Bob, I’m talking about the AV. Shouldn’t be hard to check which one is running.

The topic is ABS Ads ???

Plain and simple, I don’t like/need/want such ads in ASB. (Esp. if a paid Avast AV is running on the system…!!)

Open Bank Mode, see only one shortcut…‘Add shortcut’. Clean your webdata at end of session, see two new shortcuts pop-up. How it works.

Not sure its an ad, more like sponsored shortcut or link. In any event I use ASB often and its never shown me an ad that I can tell, quite opposite the ad blocking is top notch in ASB

Are these the Ads you’re talking about ???

Yep, those are the two, Bob.

Window opens in Bank Mode without these two in Bank Mode, do your secure session in Bank Mode, clean web data at end of session, and then these two pop-up. The only shortcut icon is ‘Add Shortcut’ -edit- (before these two appear).

I’d never go to Amazon or Turbo Tax using Bank Mode, so why?

In Europe it’s Amazon & Booking.com now.

Well “free” always has to have a way to pay for development so in this case we can assume its selling those first two links on the home page. I would hope that this means that browsing data is not being collected for selling. :-\
