ashAvast.exe is not a valid Win32 application after atack by Beagel-YN and ZL

Thank you both for your help. I´ve tried both solutions, with no luck. Now, the really dreaded BLUE screen appears, with the ceremonial memory dump.

What should I do? Backup of the data on DVD would be simple but I would risk transferring the infected files as well as the normal files.

The thing is that I had Avast and Comodo running when all this happened. Is this a common thing, even with antivirus software running?

Unfortunately yes, so far I have come across Norton, Kaspersky and NOD to name but a few that have been crippled with this

The only other alternative at this stage is to use the recovery console and delete the file from there

If you just back data and image files you should be OK - but no .exe files
