Ashdisp GUI Error

Hi,

This morning I received the red pop up to stating that my home edition would expire in 20 days. I clicked on it but for some reason the entry of the three letter code would not take (Firefox 3.5). I closed down the browser and figured I was doing something wrong. A few minutes later, maybe totally unrelated, I received a pop up from Microsoft stating that it encountered a problem with the Ashdisp, exe GUI and was closing it down. I restarted the pc, and again I received the popup. Ashserv.exe is still running in my task manager, but do I have a problem and if so how would I fix it. Thanks

Are you using NoScript in firefox ?
If so ensure you allow avast.com.

Try this link:

I don’t know if the associated issue related to the ashDisp.exe (the avast icon) would have anything to do with the form filling within firefox.

Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
What other security based software do you have ?

I may have made a accidently made a bad situation worse. Due to another problem,(my daughter downloaded a bunch of stuff and may have given the pc a virus) I had to do a system restore to a date prior to the day that I had tried to update Avast. The restore worked great, but the key that I entered is still in Avast! and I got the popup saying that my subscription expires on August 1st. Is there a way to enter the key again? Everything else seems to be working fine. I’ve been using Avast for about 3-4 years. I ran a scan after the restore and the scan came back totally clean. Thanks.

Thank you very much. It worked perfectly!
