ashquick takes a long time to initialize

Hi, I’ve been running Avast on my XP system for a long time. About three months or so ago, the Ashquick scanning engine began taking a long time initializing when fired by Firefox’s Download Status Bar. It would hang for about half a minute, then rapidly scan.

I don’t run any of Avast residentially, preferring to scan the machine manually once a week. But even if I turn on the Web Shield (though keeping its actual scanning turned off), ashquick still takes the same long time to initialize.

I just did a search and saw some 20 minute initialization horror stories. This is nothing like that, but it’s still annoying to see the dialog hanging there, while I’m trying to get back to work.

Thanks,
p.

Bad policy imho… the resident protection is what counts… the on demand scanning could be run once a month or even less…
Maybe your computer get infected, I suggest you run avast at boot time at least once.
