ashwebSv error message

Hi,
Several times a week I get a pop-up message on my laptop that says:

“ashWebSv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Avast two times, but this message still pops up at times. Can anyone help me figure out why this message keeps popping up?
Thanks.

Could you give us some Details Please-

What–

OS - you use

Firewall-Installed

other utilities-ie Adaware spybot etc.

I am using Windows XP. I haven’t knowingly installed any firewalls, unless one is there anyway (ie. with Service Pack 2). I also am using the Beta 1 version of MicroSoft’s antispyware. Actually though, this error message was showing up before I installed the Antispyware or Service Pack 2. Before that I was using Spybot, but just ran it every once in a while. It’s still on my computer, too. I also periodically run Ad-aware 6. Any other info I can give you to help me out here? Thanks.

I would say that you would be using the Windows Firewall

Click Start and then click Control Panel.

In the control panel, click Windows Security Center.

Click Windows Firewall.
