Hi all, I’m new to this forum. I have an application which has to be installed from USB flash drive. Since USB-FD often being used to spread virus, I do a prevention by using NTFS permission set to read only to the root directory and some folders in it, but still give write access to some sub-folders. I hope, by this method, I can prevent folders from being duplicated to malicious files by virus. But I find that the protection is effective only to the folders set to read only, sub-folders with write access in the the folders protected with read only permission are still being duplicated to malicious files. I can not set all folders permission to read only because the application do need to make temporary files in the USB-FD to run properly.
I need any suggestions for more effective protection to my USB-FD. Thx for the help, sorry for my bad English.
It is a install and forget tool that protect and auto clean removable device
MCShield use no system recours as the tool is dormant until a UBS device is plugged in, then it wake up, scan and clean if it find anything
MCShield only scan root of the drive and only target those malwaretypes that use removable drives to spread, meaning if you plug in a full 1TB drive it will not scan all files on that drive, that is for your AV to do
There is also a topic here, 16 pages https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=104046
where i think evry question there is to ask about the tool is asked and answered by those who made it
