Asked to do a boost scan

After running a full scan a message said Avast recommends a boost scan. So I clicked yes. It restarted my computer then it took ages until columns of
files came up and it said unable to repair. I tried and tried to turn off and on but couldn’t. Eventually I clicked ESC and it opened up my window.
My question is, why did it ask for a boost scan and has it gone any harm? Just in case I’m asked to do this again in future after a full scan I’d like to know what to do for the best.

Thanks for any replies.

Ron

you mean boot scan

avast usually recomend a boot scan if it detect something in the regular scan that may be tricky to remove
so what was detected in the normal scan?

and the others…i guess you mean it found files that it was unable to scan?

it would help if you attach a screen shot of the result…

There was one infected file on the full scan which I clicked “Repair” and it said successful. Then said it recemmended a boot scan. That’s when the problem started.
Maybe in future I should just ignore the recommendation to do a boot scan.

That's when the problem started.
what probem?

Hard to describe as I’ve never had this before. But it was a black screen with literally hundreds of lines asking me to either repair .But when I clicked on repair it said unable to repair or delete. In the end when I clicked ESC it returned to normal.
